What Are the Early Symptoms of Pregnancy?
Usually, a missed period is the first sign of pregnancy, but your monthly cycle can change for many reasons. Stress, increased exercise, rapid weight gain or loss, or a hormone imbalance can all cause your body to skip a period.
Here are some other common signs:
Tender Breasts
Changes in your hormones can cause breast tenderness. You can even experience this before a menstrual period. Your breasts may feel heavy, sensitive, or swollen.
Fatigue
A hormone called progesterone occurs naturally in your body. It rises and falls with your cycle. When you become pregnant, progesterone begins to increase, causing fatigue early in pregnancy.
Nausea With or Without Vomiting
It’s called “morning sickness,” but it can happen at any time of day. It is caused by many changes in your body, including extra stress.
Increased Urination
You might find yourself urinating more often than usual. The amount of blood in your body increases during pregnancy, causing your kidneys to process extra fluid in your bladder.
Mood Swings
With your hormones increasing, your mood and emotions can change. You may get angry more easily, or you can cry on demand. You may feel depressed, irritable, or anxious.
Food Aversions or Cravings
Have you heard about pregnant women craving pickles and ice cream? When you’re pregnant, you might become more sensitive to certain odors, and your sense of taste might change.
Bloating
Hormonal changes during early pregnancy can cause you to feel bloated, similar to how you might feel at the start of a menstrual period.
Am I Pregnant?
Pregnancies are different for each woman. Some women feel every symptom immediately, while others experience nothing for months. To determine if you are pregnant, begin by taking a pregnancy test.
We offer free pregnancy testing. You can walk in for a test or schedule an appointment for confidential, one-on-one attention.
